How do you feel about modern art? Hmm. Well how do you feel about f*ck-off giant light installations that look like something from Close Encounters? Yeah, us too. That’s why we were psyched to hear that American genius James Turrell is going to be lighting up GOMA next month.
It’s all kicking off as the sun goes down on April 20th. The lights will illuminate GOMA’s southern and eastern faces from within, creating an “evolving pattern of light”. This was actually the original plan for the building when Architectus built it back in 2006, so it’ll be cool to see the vision come to life.
But it’s not all staring at pretty lights and going “oooooh”. There’ll be pop-up BBQ and paella stations at the GOMA Cafe, and the boys from Burleigh Brewing will be on hand to keep the craft beers flowing.
