Going by the the name The Garden Pantry, West End is about to gain an entire new dining precinct this weekend. This hip new juncture of food retail is part of the larger, and very impressive, West Village development that's bringing three of Brisbane’s best restaurants to this city-fringe's heart with views overlooking the brand-new parkland called The Common.
This latest precinct will centralize a triumvirate of Brisbane’s finest eateries: Mr Bunz, Cheeky Poké, and the overwhelmingly popular Salt Meats Cheese. Between the three of them there’s not many cravings they can’t sate.
Say you’re entertaining some wholesome clean-eating notions, the Hawaiian-inspired freshness of Cheeky Poké’s colourful poké bowls and seafood tacos will hit you with some flavour you never knew a veggie could be packing. Alternatively, if you’re vibing some bobbly pan-Asian fancies, Mr Bunz has got it on lock. Their delicious bao are fluffy and flavourful as all hell, case in point: the sweet and savoury PB and J bao. And, of course, Salt Meats Cheese will be there to hardcore represent for the Italophiles. Besides their famous and decadent parmesan-wheel pasta, gnocchi and pizza, SMC will also feature an onsite coffee roastery to deliver the freshest coffee to go with their breakfast bruschetta. SMC will also be bringing their famous cooking school operation to Garden Pantry so keep an ear out.
The official open date is Saturday 20 October (changed from the 18th due to this monsoon-like rain we're currently enduring), so mark it in your diaries.
