When you ‘winter’ in the sub-tropics, certain northern hemisphere traditions can seem, well… pretty extra.
From central heating (who needs it when the average day temps in Brisbane soar to a balmy 20+ degrees), to coats—we’re more a light layers kind of city, thanks—and that peculiar pastime of lighting a giant bonfire, huddling around it eating warming food stuffs as though your very life essence depended on it. Actually, wait. That sounds rather lovely…
Bringing ALL of the wintery feels to Brisbane this weekend, Northey Street City Farm Nursery is putting on their infamous Winter Solstice Festival—and we’re a wee bit excited!
Other than the fact that this is the event of the season, this year will showcase a HUGE winter bonfire—the only public bonfire of its kind FYI, so you know it’s going to be epic (and also totally beautiful)!
This year’s Winter Solstice Festival is set to celebrate all things winter in Brisbane; from live music sets, a tonne of delicious food stalls popping up, fire dancing (oooh), workshops, plus their beautiful twilight lantern parade AND said giant bonfire, this is set to be one incredible wintery wonderland!
The icing on the cake? As well as the nursery staying open throughout the festival (trust us, you won’t leave empty handed) the entire festival is set to be completely waste free, using only 100% re-useable products to keep our city squeaky clean!
So gather the gang, throw on your best knit/bobble hat combo and come along to this gorgeous winter festival. BYO gloves…
