best burgers Brisbane

It wasn’t easy making a definitive list of Brisbane's best burgers for 2016. It took a lot of afternoons and friends and loose trousers to reach the conclusion, but we finally have it; the I-Ching of burgers.

If you haven't already, hook in to Brisbane's best burgers of 2016. Diet be damned...

Ben's Burgers

Fortitude Valley

Serving up authentic-American style burgers, Ben’s Burgers is a solid Brisbane Burger fave. If you still haven’t chowed down on their Cheesy Burger with extra jalapenos and candied bacon then get your act together and get there ASAP (take me with you).

Miss Kay’s

Brisbane CBD & Mitchelton

Having impressed us with their burger-making chops at their CBD store, Miss Kay's opened up a second store in Mitchelton earlier this year, to the extreme envy of south-siders everywhere. I personally recommend the MK Special: beef, maple bacon, onion rings, American cheese, lettuce, pickle, mayo and sweeeeet BBQ sauce. Hot damn!

Brooklyn Depot

Brooklyn Depot is your one-stop shop for all foods ‘Americana’. I’m talking Philly-style hot dogs, Hershey’s chocolate shakes, signature slaw and caramel pecan brownies… You’re probably already drooling and we haven’t even started talking about the burgers. Do yourself a favour and try the Proud Mary (the Bloody Mary ketchup will blow your mind).

5 Boroughs

Ascot & Greenslopes

5 Boroughs has created the ultimate New York street-food menu capable of impressing even the most discerning Yankee. Beware, the menu is intense and offers over a dozen burgers alone, not to mention tacos, ribs and sweet treats. The 5B vegan burger features an insane black bean, corn and quinoa patty.

Chur Burger

Fortitude Valley & Brisbane CBD

We are so stoked to have Chur Burger in Brisbane, not only for their amazing bar snacks (those damn beef brisket nachos are impossible to say no to) and tacos (pork belly and pineapple is an inspired combo) but nothing really compares to the fish burger with jalapeno mayo, pickled cucumber and green slaw.

Red Hook

Brisbane CBD

A staple of Brisbane’s laneway culture, Red Hook takes the humble burger and amps it up to 10. The Uptown Funk will introduce you to the magic that is gorgonzola sauce, caramelised onion, buffalo ketchup, beef patty, and crispy bacon. (Just a side note, Red Hook is a great date spot. Personal experience.)

Ze Pickle

Fortitude Valley

There was no way we weren’t going to mention Ze Pickle. If you’re after something truly unique, the ‘doughnutfukwitdis’ is a showstopper. Hand-pressed wagyu mince patty, nutella smoked bacon, and double jack cheese all sandwiched between a grilled Doughtnut Time donut. I cannot accurately describe how wild this is because I can’t swear in this article, so just try it. Seriously.

Greaser Bar

Fortitude Valley

Greaser is the back alley, dimly lit, basement bar that also happens to serve up a killer burger. The buttermilk fried chicken burg with the smoked chipotle mayo and red eye gravy is kind of a big deal.
