It doesn’t get much better than cocktails on the coast here in the west, so we’re welcoming the news of a brand new beachside bar this summer, but this one's bringing some serious flash and flair. Tigerfish is bringing a spicy new Southeast Asian concept to Perth’s shoreline, and we’re here for it.

The White Horse Tavern is your go-to for after-work pints, lazy Sunday sessions, and family dinners that actually feel relaxed. Inside the venue, there’s a sprawling main tavern, a sun-soaked alfresco area (yes, it’s pet-friendly), and an upstairs mezzanine with its own bar, perfect for birthdays and milestone hangs.

Farm-to-fork dining has landed in Forrestdale with the opening of The Good Paddock, a rustic yet refined family restaurant. Produce is grown on-site or sourced from local growers who share the same regenerative philosophy as the 11 Acre team. 

I’ve been smashing dumplings at My House Dumpling for *years* ever since I lived down the road, and yet, naively never realised the iconic back story of the delighfully warm and welcoming owner Judy Wu; a strong, determined female migrant who went from successful CEO in China to starting again from scratch without a single word of English in a completely unknown land.

Inglewood’s newest neighbourhood venue, House On Beau, is a mid-century lounge that feels like slow living room drinks, only better.  Taking over the much-loved Casa Eventi space, it’s bringing a fresh new chapter to Beaufort Street’s bar scene.

Pink Taquito is the latest chapter of the Stories precinct, and the pretty-in-pink partner venue to the upstairs Ugly Baby. Bringing a fiery new take on modern Mexican, it is an electric space where tequila-based cocktails and ‘grammable moments are front and centre.

Once you’re done, simply weigh, pay and go. Berry Bae is open in Leederville now.

You'd think this Nedlands gem had been here for decades given how chummy customers are with the man behind the counter.

After two successful heritage transformations, Nokturnl—the hospo crew behind popular multi-venue precincts The Old Synagogue (Fremantle) and The Beaufort (Mount Lawley)—are set to do it all again; this time with a 1908 federation style Police Station on the corner of Labouchere Road and Mends Street in South Perth.

When Cottesloe fave, Canteen Pizza, closed up in March, we shed more than a few tears. An absolute jewel of King Street, Perth bar Varnish on King has successfully transplanted an American Whiskey bar into Perth’s CBD. And they've been doing a damn good job of it for a whole decade now.

Bringing the vibes back to Essex Street, Freo’s first queer bar is brought to you by long-time Freo hospo veterans, and damn does this wife and wife team knows how to make a venue sing, dance and everything in between. 

From humble beginnings in the Freo Markets, this long-standing Freo fave is now a permanent fixture in the newly developed FOMO Fremantle. For those in the know, Suku has been serving up the authentic flavours of Indonesia since 2019, so when the opportunity for bricks and mortar store was on the table, this twosome originally from Indonesia jumped at the chance. 

Freo’s West End now comes with a bit of extra spice, with the welcome addition of Frida Mexicana restaurant on Market Street. Brought to you from the brains behind the already super popular sister venue Sana and situated in the former Sandrinos site, Frida Mexican promises a fresh take on authentic Mexican cuisine right in the heart of Freo.

Located on Cambridge St in West Leederville, Butters is already a local fave for its great coffee, top notch brekkies and unbeatable courtyard vibes. But the legends decided it was time to switch things up a bit by giving locals a new spot for an arvo wine or three.

Located directly across from Hyde Park on William St in Highgate, Chu Bakery is the ideal spot to pick up a little baked treatie and coffee before strolling down to enjoy it picnic style.

From the same legends behind Gangemi's in West Perth, the newly opened Boobook Bottles And Bar is the perfect spot for a cosy post-work drink.

North Fremantle has just scored a cracking new neighbourhood bar from co-owners Greg Leaver (Strange Company, Ronnie Nights), Alex Brinis (MRKT Space) and Matt Power (MRKT Space) that's sure to be your new summer fave.

This new retro-style chicken shop from the founder of Short Order is serving up the juiciest hot chicken tenders, beautiful burgs and a covetable chicken skin sandwich that is so time intensive to make, there's only a few available each day (but boy is it brilliant). 

This WA-themed bar is the perfect place to stop for a drink after work. They’ve got a ridiculous amount of tap beer, which rotates regularly, and a real focus on local brews and top notch cocktails.

If you live or work around Osborne Park you're likely well aware that when it comes time to grab an after work drink, your options are incredibly slim. Believe it or not, that's actually what drew entrepreneur Ami Bertagni to the area. He's got a knack for finding Perth burbs that are in desperate need of a good cafe, bar or restaurant and delivering just that—his most notable being Little Nolla.

Tucked down a long driveway in an unassuming rear warehouse along Railway Road in Subiaco, you'll find a very (dare we say) Melbourne style urban distillery, complete with concrete floors, industrial finishes and loads of plants.

The Norfolk Hotel has been much loved by Fremantle locals since it first opened under the name Oddfellows Hotel in 1887. These days, it offers a relaxed, beer garden atmosphere and some of the best damn pub grub this side of town.

The Odd Fellow is the hip guy inside of the Norfolk Hotel. Bring on spritzes in the sunshine! The crew behind beloved dumpling eatery Emily Taylor have opened a new Mediterranean-inspired bar and kitchen along Freo’s iconic cappuccino strip.

The cheesiest little haven of grazing goodness has just opened down Electric Lane in Leederville in the form of Powells Fromagerie and Wine Bar. Brought to us by Perth's platter queen, Jasmine Powell (Director of @tapasaddict), the chic new haunt is packed to the brim with the world’s finest cheeses and gourmet nibbles, plus, a cool little list of booze to keep you going all night.

Hyde Perth Kitchen + Cocktails is the perfect warm-weather hangout, thanks largely to the immaculate rooftop vibes and banging pool. So we're pretty stoked to see it finally reopen its doors just as the weather is heating up.

Perth cafe May Street Larder has become a mainstay in the East Fremantle brunch scene, and it's not just for their famous fried chicken waffles (which understandably is a major drawcard). Offering an epic breakfast menu—think: smoked beef brisket hash, apple pie french toast and breakfast burritos, May Street Larder's philosophy centres around seasonal foods and the best produce WA has to offer.

If you were lucky enough to make your way to Bagel O's soft launch on Saturday, you'll know two things. One, that the stacked bagels coming out of this shop are bloody good. And two, you'll likely have to battle crowds to get your hands on one when they officially open this week. 

Meet Goods Bakery, a new bakery slash cafe that has just thrown open its doors in West Leedy down near Bad Love Burgers and Nowhereman Brewing. This one comes to us from the legendary crew behind Modus Coffee, so quality coffee and tasty treats are kind of a given. But we're also big fans of its terracotta-hued check floors, sunny window seats and all-round cool minimal aesthetic.

The awesome team behind Bark in Subi have done it again with Lums Wine Bar, the newest charming addition to Hay St. Perfect for an after-work drink or a yarn with friends, this 1920s heritage listed terrace is bursting with comfort and warmth across its two storeys. Sip on an artisanal wine from their extensive wine list featuring local favourites and international winners as you munch on share-style tapas. This place is the talk of the town, so make Lums Wine Bar your next stop for an adventure into the heart of Subiaco.

The stellar team behind Northbridge’s Neon Palms have opened the doors to Volare, a leafy new apertivo-style bar in Maylands’ old Swallow Bar site. Embracing and preserving the 1920’s art-deco features, the beautiful heritage space has been given a slight face-lift to give coastal European vibes, with a food and drinks menu to match. Just think: unique spritzes with nibbles like negroni glazed occie and nduja chilli mussel toast. 

Perth bar El Grotto is on to a winning combination, serving up Mexican street food and a serious selection of tequila down at Scarborough beach, along with a hefty dose of live music.

Housed inside Fremantle’s FOMO lies Yin Yang Wok & Soup Bar, an addition to the hub’s Asian-inspired Street Eats Alley. 

Take one look at the Instagram feed of Carina’s Kitchen and you’ll probably find it hard to believe that almost everything is plant-based. It looks too good to be true! But rest assured, there are no dairy, eggs or animal products to be found in Carina’s dessert cabinet—just light and fluffy filled doughnuts, gooey cinnamon scrolls, cookies, brownies, cakes and more. At her new shop inside Hawaiians Mezz in Mount Hawthorn she's also expanded her offering, with some non-vegan sweets and savouries as well as coffee now on the go too.

After a whirlwind pop-up and a lengthy reno, O Brother has cemented itself as one of the western burbs best small bars.

Owner John Parker (The Standard, The Royal, Fleur) has done it once again with this gorgeous multi-level bar and restaurant situated amongst the endless foodie joints in The West Deck precinct in Karrinyup.

For west coast dessert fans, The Honeycake needs no introduction. With now two stores across the west coast, The Honeycake has developed a cult following and has fast become a dessert destination among Perth locals, foodies and travellers alike.

Aptly named Jetty Bar And Eats, this unassuming "shack on the water" from Miles Hull (Little Creatures, Alex Hotel, Quarter Acre) is easy to miss but step inside and you’ll be rewarded with stunning waterfront vibes, cool decor, approachable wines and some very attractive cocktails. Meanwhile, in the kitchen, Chef Marcello Segalin is whipping up the most delicious range of Mediterranean-inspired share plates—paying respect to the migrants that disembarked ships just around the corner throughout the 50s and 60s. Trust us, this is the place to be come aperitivo hour.

Residents of Nedlands, Crawley and surrounding suburbs would already know about the mouth-watering meals from Miky’s Italian, but if not, listen up. Miky’s is a neighbourhood restaurant sitting on Broadway Street, serving us Northern Italian dishes that have a modern twist. There are plenty of pasta dishes on the menu to choose from, including Napoletana, carbonara, ragu or creamy mushroom. The seafood spaghetti is generously loaded with mussels, big juicy prawns and thick bites of fish, all tossed in a rich tomato sauce and perfected with a light squeeze of lemon and a sprinkle of pepper.
