This year Anzac Day falls on a Sunday, meaning that Monday 26 April is a public holiday (which we'll hereby refer to as 'Anzac Monday'). Because of this, some cafés' and restaurants' opening hours may differ from usual, but never fear—if you're still not satisfied after eating your weight in Anzac cookies, there are plenty of places throwing open their doors for a feed (some even a cheeky drink).

But, do you ever find yourself just craving a humble taco? Well, brace yourselves because Dan Freeman, the mastermind behind patisserie pop up, Hundred Acre Food. But this time, he’s opening a taco pop up joint!

The saying ‘you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone’ exists for a reason, folks! As much as us Aucklanders love to moan about how much our city frustrates us (traffic, ugh), there are certain things about the City of Sails that we miss the second we leave it.

Sriracha goes with everything. Like, everything. Toast, shampoo, a Tic Tac that fell behind the couch but is probably still fine. There isn’t a problem in the world that can’t be solved by either more Sriracha or less Sriracha. 

Give us great food and we’re happy. Give us great food and shopping and things get taken to a whole new level. And so, when we heard that Sylvia Park is set expand to include a multi-million dollar food precinct later this year, we pretty much lost our shit.

It may be the season for thicker layers and big ol’ jumpers, but Auckland has (finally) decided to grace us with warm, sunny days and we’re totally not complaining. Even better, the shorter week means the weekend has rolled right back ‘round again!

It’s a big call but we reckon the arrival of these newest iconic eats may even call for a national holiday (we can never get enough three-day weekends, right?).
